SOLD#3848 Austrian Figural PlateSOLD

SOLDThe blue overglaze mark, c.1890-1918, is believed to be that of Josef Riedl, a decorating studio in Giesshubel, Bohemia (now known as Struzna, Czechia) (Source: Marks on German, Bohemian, and Austrian Porcelain by Rontgen, pages 408 and 188) (Another great source for this topic is Ginni's Collectors Circle & Bohemian Boutique, Collectors Circle.  Beautiful Colors!!  8 3/8" diameter.  Excellent condition except for some very light places on some of the green.  Not serious (see pictures).  A beautiful old display plate. SOLD

Decorated in the style of the Royal Vienna Porcelain Factory.  The beautiful figural scene in transfer was copied from the original work of Angelica Kauffmann (a Swiss Neoclassical painter, 1741-1807, who painted in the Rococo style and whose works have been widely reproduced.  She was a child prodigy and well-known by the age of 11 for her artistic and musical talents.
