SOLD#2185 Oldest Volkstedt Porcelain Factory Courting CoupleSOLD

Currently on Layaway  Thuringia, Germany.  Approximately 6" tall x 61/2" wide x 5" deep.  The name LaAaur is incised on the back.  We assume this is the artist, but have as yet been unable to identify.  Mark used from c.1915.  (Source:  Directory of European Porcelain by Danckert, pages 393 and 671; and Marks on German, Bohemian, and Austrian Porcelain by Rontgen, page 128).   It appears to be perfect except for the orange ribbon on his hat and at both his knees (see pictures below).  These imperfections are not readily noticeable.  Hand Painted.  Currently on Layaway

SOLD#2475 German Meissen Style FigurineSOLD

Appears to have originally been marked with the word Dresden. As seen in picture of bottom side, Dr is all that is visible and whatever else was there is missing.  It appears as though someone purposely sanded off the rest of it.  It was common in Dresden, Germany, for the various decorating studios to cover up the mark of the manufacturer and then mark the item with their own decorating mark.  Please e-mail if you recognize this piece.  We have included it on this page because it complements the Volkstedt figurals listed below.  Dainty and beautiful little figures.  Hand Painted.  Perfect condition.  4" tall.
