#1826 French Louis XVI-style Parlor Chair, 19th Century

Believed to be last quarter of 19th century.  The beautiful tapestry appears to be original and is slightly worn on the corners of the seat.  There is also some soiling around the edges where the fabric is attached to the frame.  Frame is ornately decorated with hand carved roses and foliage.  The frame has old worm holes, further evidence of its very old age.  Horsehair stuffing.  37 1/2" tall x 21" wide at the seat.  A GORGEOUS chair!!  Additional pictures will be posted upon request.

#2261 French Louis XV-style Two-tiered Table

Second tier has inset glass over beautiful floral fabric in gold and beige tones.  Ornate bronze ormolu mounts, including the dainty ormolu paw feet.  Gorgeous parquetry.  Notice the closeups of the wood and the beautiful grains.  We believe this table is probably from the early 20th century, possibly the 1920's.  Metal label nailed on underside says "Made in France" (see last picture).  It is in excellent condition for its age, but  not perfect.  All four legs have very small areas where some of the parquetry is missing (not readily noticeable) -- look closely at lower left front leg in top picture.  The bronze ormolu mounts were obviously gilt at one time, but only traces of  the gilt now remain -- all of this only adds to the credibility of this beautiful table.  Table is 30" tall.  The top is 28" x 20 1/2".

SOLD#2274 French Louis XVI style Side ChairsSOLD

Pair.  Believed to be c. Late 19th century.  Horsehair stuffing.  Well-made, very heavy, sturdy chairs.  Frames are in excellent condition.  Back bottom rail of one chair has a slight fissure of about 1" as can be seen in picture.  Fabric seats are soiled as can also be seen in pictures.  One area (see picture) appears to be a small cigarette burn. Notice accumulation of soiling on the braided trim on the fabric.    Even with the soiling, these chairs are beautiful just as these are.  Depending on the lighting and location of the chairs, they do have the look of being perfect at first glance.  Notice the ornate detailing all around the frames, including the florals at the top rail.  Because the fabric is not perfect, we are offering these at a reduced price and on an "as-is" basisMeasurements are as follows:  38 1/4" tall from floor to top of roses on back.  17 1/2" tall from floor to top edge of seat.  Seat is 21" wide x 19" deep from front to back.  The oval back is 19 1/2" tall x 17" wide.
