Old Schumann Dresden

This page is for the OLD Schumann Dresden which is compatible with Schumann Empress Dresden, except the rim edges are straight on the OLD, while the rim edges are scalloped on the Empress.  These are also compatible with Chateau Dresden which is the reticulated version of the Dresden Flowers.  They can all be mixed and matched for a beautiful and elegant table setting.

#3941D Old Schumann Dresden Demitasse Cups and Saucers

Cups are 2 3/8" tall x 2 1/8" across top opening.  Saucers are 4 1/4" diameter.  Assorted marks which date these to c.1920's-30's, possibly earlier.

There is always the exception to the rule.  These are Old Schumann Dresden, but they do have the scalloped rim edge as does Empress, but they curve upward.  Very similar to Empress.  These rims are scalloped, as is Empress, but these curve upward, while Empress rims are flatter.  Excellent condition.  We've had some professional minor touch-up on some of the gold rims.  9 1/2" diameter. SOLD#3893 Old Schumann Dresden Jumbo "Hot Chocolate" Cups and SaucersSOLD

Great for hot chocolate or any other of your favorite hot drinks of choice.  We've not seen these before and were very pleased to have found them.  Assorted Dresden Flowers.  The jumbo cups are 2 3/4" tall x 3 7/8" diameter.  Saucers are 6 1/4" diameter.  Excellent condition.

Teapot has been SOLD.  Teacups and Saucers still available.  Assorted interesting marks which date this set to pre-1933 as the date of manufacture, but actual distribution as apparently 1933 or later after Bavaria lost its independence to Germany.  It is obvious in studying this set that nearly every piece was once marked with "Bavaria" which was later ground out and replaced with a stamped "Germany" or just left blank.  The teapot actually has two marks -- one of them dating back to 1918 with "Bavaria" still present.  The second mark on the teapot appears to be one stamped over an old mark that was ground out.  The stamped "Germany" on most of the pieces is barely still visible.  Teapot is 4" to neck rim and 6 1/8" to top of finial on lid.  Cups are 2 1/4" tall x 3" diameter across top opening.  Saucers are 4 3/4" diameter.  Set consists of one teapot and four cups and saucers.  Teapot has been SOLD.  Only the teacups remain.   r $300 in August 2005
